PHILIPPE CASSIS has been named as Belmond’s new executive vice president & chief operating officer. He arrives at the company from Sun Resorts, where he served as CEO. Prior to this, Cassis spent 28 years with Starwood, including a spell as senior vice president of operations for South America.
DR CHANG YU-HERN has been appointed president of China Airlines. Chang is an aviation industry veteran whose past experience includes spells as chairman of Taiwan’s Department of Transportation, director of the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation, and chairman of the Aviation Safety Council.
GORAN ALEKS has assumed the dual role of general manager of the Sofitel Macau at Ponte 16 and AccorHotels’ vice president of operations for South China. Aleks, who will now oversee more than 40 properties, has worked with AccorHotels since 1995, most recently as GM of the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua.
CHRISTOPH GANSTER has been announced as the new managing director of Laucala Island, the luxury private island resort in Fiji. Ganster has more than 23 years of experience, the last 11 of which were spent with FRHI Hotels & Resorts. He has held GM roles in the Seychelles, Ukraine and Egypt.
JIN-MOON AHN has been named as Etihad Airways’ new general manager for Korea, based in Seoul. Ahn held a number of sales and marketing roles at Air France-KLM before joining Etihad in 2010 as sales manager for Korea – the year Etihad commenced daily flights on the Abu Dhabi-Seoul route.
SIMON RINDLISBACHER has been confirmed as the general manager of the new Mövenpick Hotel Sukhumvit 15 Bangkok. A Swiss national, Rindlisbacher started as a trainee at the Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok was most recently spent three years as GM of the Ramada Hotel & Suites Bangkok.
MARK BULMER has been announced as the new general manager of the Carlton Hotel Singapore. An Australian national, Bulmer worked for Le Meridien Hotels in Melbourne, Vanuatu and Siem Reap before moving to Bangkok, where he held GM roles with Amari and Carlson Rezidor.
CHARLEY MAGABO has been named as the new director of sales & marketing for two resorts in the Philippines operated by the Discovery Leisure Company. He will now oversee the Discovery Shores Boracay and the Club Paradise in Dimakya Island, Palawan. Magabo has extensive experience in the luxury resort sector.
NORHAYATI BINTI MUHAMMAD YUSOFF has been appointed director of sales at the new Dorsett Putrajaya. Ms Norhayati, or Yatie as she is better known, joins Dorsett from The Royale Bintang Kuala Lumpur where she served as director of sales. She has also previously worked with Sheraton.
