The latest industry appointments

JONG RAE KIM has become Korean Air’s new regional manager for the UK & Ireland, based in London. Kim has been with Korean Air since 1996 and previously served at the airline’s regional cargo sales office in Seoul and at its regional office in Guangzhou, where he learnt to speak Chinese.

DOUG ANDERSON has been named CEO of American Express Global Business Travel (GBT). He arrives with more than 30 years of global management experience, the last nine of which were spent as president & CEO of Carlson Wagonlit Travel. GBT was spun off from American Express just over two years ago.

JULIA HAYWOOD has been announced as United Airlines’ new executive vice president & chief commercial officer. She joins the US carrier from the Boston Consulting Group, where she served as partner and managing director. She has also held several roles with the International Olympic Committee.

IAN TELFORD has been named general manager of Blakes Hotel in London. He brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, including a spell as director of guest experience for Morgans Hotel Group. Most recently he was part of the opening team of Andre Balazs’ Chiltern Firehouse.

JOHN ALLANSON has been appointed general manager of the Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, effective immediately. A British national, Allanson brings 30 years’ experience to Outrigger, having worked at hotels in the Maldives, Vietnam and UK. Most recently he was GM of the Six Senses Con Dao, Vietnam.

JENNIFER CALLISTER has been promoted to the position of head of Ireland for Royal Caribbean. She will now be based in Dublin, leading the cruise company’s sales team in Ireland. Ms Callister previously spent four years as Royal Caribbean’s national account manager, and has also worked for bmi.

ANDREA ELWELL has been promoted to the role of national sales manager with Flexible Autos. Ms Elwell joined the trade-only car rental company three years ago as sales manager for key accounts predominately in the south of England. She will now work closely with sales director Chantal Tomlinson.

PATRICK DEVONSHIRE has become Flexible Autos’ new sales executive for the south of England, replacing Andrea Elwell. He joins from trade-only car rental company from Co-operative Travel in Radstock, Somerset, where he was employed for three years, most recently as assistant manager.

SANTIAGO FERNANDEZ has become Pacific World’s new head of sales for the EMEA region. Yago, as he is better known, previously spent five years coordinating the global DMC and event management company’s sales efforts in France, Benelux and the Middle East.
