Three explosions hit Mumbai during Wednesday evening’s rush hour, killed at least 21 people and injuring more than 100. The Times of India reported that the three blasts occurred within a deadly 10-minute spell, ripping through three of the city’s busiest areas – Zaveri Bazar, Opera House and Dadar – between 6.55pm and 7.05pm last night.
India’s Home Minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram told reporters the blasts were a “coordinated attack by terrorists”. The attacks are the deadliest in Mumbai since November 2008, when 166 people were killed in a coordinated raid on hotels, restaurants and other targets.
