Tianjin Airlines, which forms part of China’s HNA Group, will launch its first ever flight to London this summer.

The new route, which will operate from Tianjin via Chongqing, will also mark the airline’s first ever long-haul flight and the first service between the Chinese port city and Europe.

Commencing on 25 June 2016, flights will depart Tianjin’s Binhai International Airport every Wednesday and Saturday at 0905, arriving at London’s Gatwick Airport at 2025. The return flight will leave the UK capital at 2225 on the same days of the week, arriving back in Tianjin at 2215 the next day.

Currently a short-haul carrier, Tianjin Airlines operates a fleet of 87 single-aisle Airbus A320, Embraer E190 and E145 jets. For its long-haul expansion, the carrier will take delivery of its first twin-aisle Airbus A330 aircraft in May, followed by two more at a later date.

Tianjin Airlines will become the fourth Chinese carrier flying to London, following Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines. And another HNA Group carrier, Hainan Airlines, will also launch flights to the UK this summer, with the start of a new Beijing-Manchester route on 10 June.
