Tiger sees 18% rise in passengers in March

Tiger Airways carried 576,000 passengers in March 2011 – 18% more than the same month last year. The low-cost carrier is adding planes, with seat capacity from its Singapore hub expanding 41% year-on-year for the summer 2011 schedules including increased frequencies to destinations such as Bangkok, Chennai, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Kuala Lumpur. The airline’s Australian arm recently launched flights connecting Sydney with the Gold Coast. For the 12 months to 31 March 2011, Tiger carried more than six million passengers.Tony Davis, President & Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said; “We are pleased to have carried over six million passengers… The consistent growth in passengers throughout the financial year provides strong evidence that our low-cost low fare model is in demand across the Asia Pacific region.”
