Tourico Holidays will embark on a major recruitment drive at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, with the aim of doubling the size of its in-house training programme.
The travel wholesaler is planning to increase its Tourico Holidays Travel Academy headcount to more than 280 students in 2016, and then to 750 students per year by 2018.
Tourico launched its academy in January 2014, with the aim of recruiting and training young professionals to work in the company. In the first two years, the academy has received more than 7,200 applicants, but just 2% have been accepted into the programme. More than 90% of the successful academy students have been retained by Tourico, encouraging the company to expand the programme.
“After an overwhelming number of extremely competitive applicants, coming from top schools across the world, we realised that we were in a strong position to increase the capacity of our in-house programme – and continue to fuel company growth,” said Uri Argov, founder & CEO of Tourico Holidays. “By 2018, we will be welcoming 750 skilled travel professionals a year into the company, all of which will have an intimate understanding of Tourico’s internal operations.”
As part of the recruitment drive, Tourico’s director of global recruitment, Kieran Le-Petit, and chief operating officer, Asi Ginio, will be attending WTM London, looking for new talent.
Accepted students will embark on a 10-week course, receiving a basic salary, housing, meals and laptops. Students are offered direct lessons from senior executives, including Tourico’s CEO. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have the opportunity to join Tourico’s team.
“We’re offering a unique opportunity that includes a paid, hands-on education from travel executives and the chance to start a travel career with a global company that is known for vertical professional mobility,” said Le-Petit. “WTM London is the perfect conference to meet face-to-face with a high volume of travel industry enthusiasts that we can introduce to the Tourico Academy.”
