Travelport rolls out Galileo Online Travel Affiliate

Sydney, 28 January 2010 - Travelport, one of the world’s largest global distribution system (GDS) providers, has rolled out its latest enhancement to Galileo Online Travel, a web-based booking tool for travel agents’ customers to book online, targeting agents in Australia and New Zealand.
Galileo Online Travel Affiliate is the newest release that has been specifically developed for travel agents with multiple brands or for travel companies that manage booking sites on a third party website or social networking sites. Each affiliate website can be branded and configured in accordance with an agency’s business requirements or target audience. Another benefit is that it simplifies the management of multiple sites which can be updated by using a single administrator login saving the agency both time and costs.
“The online channel is the fastest growing segment of the travel market and we have seen an increasing number of customers show interest in this space. Travellers are more inclined to conduct their own research, coupled with their heightened confidence to book online than ever before. For the travel agent, this represents a convenient, low maintenance 24-hour selling tool,” said Ailsa Brown, Director of Sales, Australia, Travelport GDS.
Galileo Online Travel Affiliate has been beta tested with Queensland-based MTA Travel, Australia’s largest independently owned group of home-working travel consultants and Perth-based Orba Travel Brokers.
“Galileo Online Travel Affiliate has enabled MTA Travel to be one of the first agencies in the market to provide our corporate and niche customers with the ability to search, compare and book flights, including low cost carriers, all in one business transaction. Our use of Galileo Online Travel Affiliate is ensuring that we stay ahead of our competition,” said Roy Merricks, Managing Director, Mobile Travel Agents of Australia (MTA Travel).
Another Travelport customer, Rod Davies, General Manager, Orba Travel Brokers said: “Galileo Online Travel Affiliate gives us the ability to manage multiple sites via a single administrator login. It has helped us save time updating our sites so that we can focus our team on selling. We expect to see some increase in revenues in the months ahead and it also gives us the time to explore new customer segments.”
Galileo Online Travel was launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2007.
