Russia has grounded all Tupolev TU-154B passenger aircraft after one of the planes exploded on a runway in Siberia on Saturday, killing three people. According to Russian news agency, RIA Novosti, the directive issued by the country’s Transport Oversight Agency will see all 14 operational TU-154B jets grounded until an investigation into the incident is complete. Three people died when the Tupolev plane, operated by regional airline Kogalymavia and carrying 124 passengers, caught fire as it prepared for take-off from Surgut, en route to Moscow. It exploded shortly afterwards, although most passengers had managed to escape.
