AccorHotels has signed a major deal in Southeast Asia that will lead to the opening of two brand new Sofitels in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

The agreement with GuocoLand will see the new 222-room Sofitel Singapore City Centre open in the city’s new Tanjong Pagar Centre development, while the 312-room Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara will form part of the new Damansara City complex.

The Singapore hotel will become the third Sofitel in the country, while the KL property will mark the luxury brand’s return to Malaysia.

“We are very excited that GuocoLand has entrusted us to manage these two flagship hotels under our luxury Sofitel brand in what will be very prestigious lifestyle and business hubs,” said Michael Issenberg, chairman & CEO of AccorHotels Asia Pacific. “These two new hotels are set to become icons in their respective cities, being at the centrepiece of landmark developments that will reinvent urban living in two of Asia’s most dynamic destinations.”

Raymond Choong, president & CEO of GuocoLand Group, added that the two hotels’ business and dining facilities will be “accessible to office tenants and residents within both developments”.

Located between Chinatown and the CBD, Sofitel Singapore City Centre will include a range of F&B outlets, an outdoor pool, executive lounge, eight function rooms and a 620m² ballroom.

The Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara meanwhile, will be positioned to the west of the CBD, towards Petalingjaya. A new MRT station at the Damansara City development will provide connectivity. The hotel will offer three restaurants and bars, an executive lounge, spa, fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool with pool bar. There will also be five function rooms and an 840m² ballroom.

The two new hotels join an existing portfolio of 12 Sofitels in Southeast Asia, covering Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
