Malaysia’s Kinabalu Park and the surrounding Ranau area has been nominated to become a UNESCO Geopark, according to Sabah Tourism. The area includes Malaysia’s highest mountain, Mount Kinabalu and was previously home to the largest copper mine in Malaysia. If selected, Kinabalu Park would become the country’s second Geopark, after Langkawi.
