United-Continental unveils Eco Skies

United Continental Holdings has unveiled its new environmental commitment with a focus on reducing the environmental impact of all areas of its business operations. The Eco-Skies initiative has was kicked off with a US$2 donation to Conservation International for every customer who uses a mobile boarding pass.
Further measures include the reduction of fuel use and improvement of fuel efficiency of its aircraft and vehicles; to advance the development of alternative fuels; to improve the sustainability of its products and its facilities; to responsibly manage waste; and to work together with its partners – customers, airports, business partners, suppliers, governments and NGOs – to promote accountability and protect the environment.
“With our commitment to the environment at the new United, we lead commercial aviation as an environmentally responsible company by taking responsible actions today that shape an environmentally sustainable future,” said United’s Vice President of Environmental affairs & Security, Toby Enqvist.
