VietJet Air confirms Bangkok fights
VietJet Air has confirmed that Bangkok will become its first international destination, with flights to the Thai capital due to commence on 10 February 2013.
The Vietnamese low-cost carrier has timed the launch to coincide with the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The new Ho Chi Minh City-Bangkok route will initially operate daily, using a 180-seat, all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights will depart HCMC at around 1100 and return from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport at 1330.
“We are very excited to be able to operate our inaugural international flight,” said Desmond Lin, VietJet’s Business Development Director. “This would give us the opportunity to showcase Vietnam in a different perspective – the fun side of Vietnam as a destination outside the traditional approach. Bangkok is also a major international hub for global travel where there is plenty of demand for our highly affordable ticket fares and high-quality flights on board a modern Airbus aircraft, staffed by fun, friendly and professional air stewards.”
VietJet recently launched two new domestic routes, from HCMC to Hue and Vinh, and plans to add new services to Dalat and Phu Quoc before the end of the year.
The airline added that it intends to launch more international routes next year, connecting both HCMC and Hanoi with destinations in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.
