VietJet Air has taken delivery of a new Airbus A321 aircraft – the airline’s first larger single-aisle jet.
Since it launched in late 2011, VietJet has grown to a fleet of 20 180-seat A320 aircraft. But the new A321 offers a total of 220 seats, allowing the low-cost carrier to increase capacity on its high volume routes.
The new A321 also marked a milestone for Airbus, as it became the 9,000th aircraft produced by the European planemaker.
Meanwhile, VietJet has announced plans to launch a new domestic route to Chu Lai – a seaport on the south-central coast of Vietnam. Commencing on 27 May 2015, the new service will operate four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays) direct from Ho Chi Minh City.
