VietJet launches Haiphong flights
VietJet Air has launched its first service to Haiphong, the port city in northern Vietnam.
The city – the third largest in Vietnam – will be served daily from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), using an all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft. Flights will depart HCMC at 0950 and land in Haiphong two hours later. The return flight will set off from Haiphong at 0030 the following day.
“VietJet Air launching this route is highly appreciated as it will help facilitate transport between the country’s largest economic hub and Haiphong, contributing to the development of the economy and tourism in this northern city. The event is even more meaningful as it pioneers Haiphong’s activities for the Year of National tourism,” said Vietnam’s Transport Minister Dinh La Thang said during the launch ceremony at Haiphong’s Cat Bi airport.
VietJet, which launched its first flight in December 2011, is currently undertaking a major domestic expansion that will see it launch four more routes by the end of the year: HCMC-Vinh on 15 November, HCMC-Hue on 22 November, Hanoi-Dalat on 7 December and HCMC-Phu Quoc on 20 December.
