Vietnam Airlines is planning to increase its flights to the UK, with the addition of a fifth weekly service this summer.
The carrier is to trial the new weekly Gatwick service via Frankfurt each Monday during May and June 2013 in addition to its current four-times-a-week schedule.
It comes as Travel Indochina’s co-founder Paul Hole told media he has pushed for the airline to boost its services to a daily operation with the belief demand is there. He said he believes the carrier could “move quicker” in upping its frequencies from the UK to Vietnam so his tour operator can carry more Brits to the country.
“Our intention in the mid to long term is to work up towards daily frequencies, but this is still some way off at present,” David Cook, UK & Ireland sales manager for Vietnam Airlines told Travel Daily.
Meanwhile at Travel Indochina Hole said the tour operator will add another 20 videos to its website this week to help educate travel agents and customers about its small group journey-style holidays and destinations it serves.
“We accept that the next three years is all about education,” he said. “Our contact has to be intimate and upfront at the moment until travel agents know who we are. We have our BDMs on the road and want to host joint events with travel agents for their customers to showcase our product”.
While its focus is on independent holidays and multi-destination tours, Hole said the company had seen an increase in beach holiday enquiries and will team up with Vietnam Airlines to promote beach destinations in the future.
Also the company is looking to make a mark with its 21st milestone anniversary next year, in keeping with the age group of the front of sales staff it is looking to educate.
