Vietnam saw a total of 5.05 million international visitors last year – 34.8% more than in 2009. The latest data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) showed that 450,000 people entered the countries last month, allowing the annual total to rise above the five million mark. China was the country’s largest individual source market, contributing more than 905,000 visits - 74.5% more than 2009. Arrivals from the country’s other two largest source markets, South Korea (+37.7%) and Japan (+24.0%), also increased last year, while the largest increase came in visitors from Cambodia (+115.2%). The total number of arrivals is comfortably higher than the VNAT’s target of 4.5-4.6 million visitors.
