Viking River Cruises has revealed the results of a survey it recently conducted into the technology habits of Brits aged over 50.
The survey, which took in the views of more than 4,000 UK residents, was released to promote Viking’s new magazine app.
According to the survey, two-thirds of those who responded had at least one tablet and one third said it was the piece of technology they couldn’t do without on holiday.
Around 40% of use the tablet to access social media site Facebook, 10% use it to keep an eye on their children and another 10% to check their Twitter accounts.
Wendy Atkin-Smith, managing director of Viking River Cruises UK said: “In the last year traffic to our website from tablets and mobile devices has nearly doubled and now two-thirds of all mobile visitors are from iPads alone. Our customers live increasingly technological lives communicating to family and friends via apps on their tablets and smartphones and devour social media.
“The launch of our hugely popular Explorer magazine as an iPhone/iPad app is in recognition that our customers seek out information through their mobile devices and we need to keep pace with our fast-changing and technologically-adept customers.”
The Explorer magazine is available for free now.
