Virgin Australia will start offering business class onboard its flights to New Zealand and the South Pacific next year.
The airline’s Sydney-Auckland route will be the first to feature the premium products on 28 February 2015, with other regional routes following from 31 March.
The move follows the refit of 10 of the airline’s Boeing 737 aircraft. These jets will be installed with a new front business class cabin, featuring leather seats with a 38-inch (96.5cm) pitch in a 2-2 configuration.
Passengers will be offered blankets, pillows and amenity kits, plus a full meal and drink services, a selection of newspapers and teas, and priority check-in, boarding and baggage.
“Virgin Australia is renowned for its business class offering within Australia and we are thrilled to be bringing this service to the trans-Tasman and Pacific Island routes,” said the airline’s chief commercial officer, Judith Crompton. “These markets are a very important focus for us given the growth in business travel between Australia and New Zealand and we are committed to offering great value business class fares.
“The roll-out of business class completes our premium customer proposition across key international markets and importantly, allows us to deliver a more consistent customer experience in conjunction with our alliance partner, Air New Zealand,” she added.
Virgin Australia’s business class fares on the Sydney-Auckland route will start from AU$699 (US$579).
