Virgin Australia has added a further five destinations in Indonesia following the expansion of its codeshare agreement with SilkAir.
The arrangement will enable Virgin Australia to place its ‘VA’ code on SilkAir’s Airbus A320 services from Singapore to Bandung, Balikpapan, Lombok, Palembang and Solo. These add to existing codeshare agreement, which includes flights to Jakarta and Bali.
“Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and one of Australia’s most important trading partners, with over AU$11 billion (US$10.4bn) worth of trade between the two countries in 20121,” said Virgin Australia’s chief commercial officer, Judith Crompton.
“We now have Virgin Australia marketing code on 10 destinations across Indonesia that can be accessed on one ticket from all Virgin Australia serviced airports across Australia and New Zealand.”
Virgin Australia’s Velocity frequent flyer members are also able to earn and redeem points across the SilkAir network.
