Virgin Australia has launched a new frequent flyer programme for pets.
In a first for Australia, members of the airline’s Velocity Frequent Flyer loyalty programme can now earn 300 points each time their dog or cat flies on Virgin Australia’s domestic network. Silver, Gold and Platinum members will also receive bonus points.
“Virgin Australia flies almost 30,000 pets each year around Australia, and a large proportion are owned by Velocity members, so we know how important their companions are to them,” said Velocity Frequent Flyer’s CEO, Neil Thompson.
“We are delighted to make their flying experience even more rewarding by unleashing Australia’s first frequent flyer programme for pets, giving our members another truly unique way to earn points,” he added.
The airline has also launched a nationwide campaign to find an official ‘Pet Ambassador’ for the programme. The chosen pet will be featured in future Velocity marketing campaigns.
