Volcanic debris flowing down the slopes of Mount Merapi, the Indonesian volcano that erupted last year, is threatening also heritage sites in Central Java, local media has reported. Subandrio, the head of Indonesia’s Volcano Investigation & Technology Development Institution (BPPTK), said that the UNESCO-listed Prambanan Temple was one of the sites under threat.
