A successful bid for funding from the European Commission (EC) has led to the launch of a new accessible tourism campaign.
The EUR125,000 (GBP97, 964) grant has meant VisitEngland will now lead the Access for All campaign, partnering with seven destinations to promote tourism for people with access needs.
Fifty six businesses will also be involved to help improve access, with guides created for each region to show what is available.
Research by VisitEngland found the overnight accessible tourism market is now worth GBP3 billion to the English economy, with spend up 33%.
“As the national tourist board, we are committed to ensuring England is a destination that offers a warm welcome for all visitors. The Access for All project is a fantastic opportunity to continue tobuild England’s reputation as a leader in accessible tourism, and help grow this important and valuable market,” said James Berresford, chief executive of VisitEngland.
