Wyndham Hotel Group is set to expand its presence in South Korea by more than 200% over the next three years, following the signing of 12 new franchise agreements in the country.
The new properties, consisting of Ramadas, Days Inns and Howard Johnsons, are all expected to open by 2018. They will be located across South Korea, including Seoul, Pyeongtaek and Jeju Island. The first new hotel, Ramada Encore Jeju Seogwipo, opened on 30 June 2015.
“South Korea plays a key role in our growth in the region,” said Barry Robinson, Wyndham’s president & managing director for Southeast Asia & the Pacific Rim.
“There are great opportunities for economy and midscale hotel development throughout the country and we will continue to look for ways to capitalise on the impressive growth in both visitor arrivals and visitor spending to provide guests with world-class properties and service in exciting, desirable locations.”
These 12 new hotel signings follow the 14 franchise agreements signed by Wyndham in South Korea in 2014. The company’s nationwide pipeline now totals 26 properties with more than 7,550 rooms.
Currently, Wyndham operates 13 properties and more than 2,800 rooms in South Korea.
