Around 2,500 people showed up to see Sir Steve Redgrave, Iwan Thomas and Graham Bell at the Slide2Sochi roadshow in Milton Keynes on Saturday (5 October).
More than 100 people tried skiing and snowboarding during the day for the first time, including Thomas who has not skied for 20 years.
GB Bobsleigh team members were also in attendance as well as GB junior snowboarders Becky Menday and Will Gilmore.
“Teaching people to ski and snowboard is so rewarding and it has been a great day of passing on my passion for snowsports and seeing people catch the bug,” said Bell, who presents Ski Sunday. “This is going to be a big year for British skiing and snowboarding. As we head towards the Winter Olympics in Russia next year more and more people will see our sports on screen and want to give them a go.”
The event was part of a series set up by Snowsport England to get Brits back on the slopes and geared up for the Sochi Olympic Games next year.
