Lao Airlines will launch its first ever flights to Singapore tomorrow (Thursday 24 November 2011). The national carrier recently received its first ever jet aircraft – two 142-seat Airbus A320s – which has enabled it to commence operations on the Vientiane-Singapore route.
The new three times a week service will depart the Lao capital’s Wattay airport at 1505, arriving at Singapore’s Changi airport at 1830. The return service will leave Singapore at 1940, arriving back in Vientiane at 2105.
The A320s will also be deployed on routes to Bangkok, Kunming, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, as well as on domestic services linking Vientiane to Luang Prabang and Pakse.
“Lao Airlines is on the threshold of a new and exciting growth trajectory, one that is in tune with the upswing in tourism to Laos. The introduction of new Airbus A320s into our fleet and the opening of a non-stop service to Singapore greatly expands our capacity to tap into the potential feed through our gateways in Bangkok and Singapore,” said Lao Airlines’ President, Dr Somphone Douantdara.
The airline is also considering launching direct services to Guangzhou and Seoul in the future.
