TransAsia launches new cross-Strait route
Taiwan’s TransAsia Airways has launched a new route to the Chinese resort city of Sanya.
The new service, which took off on 31 May 2012, will be operated twice a week from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport.
“We believe now is the perfect time for TransAsia Airways to commence regular flights on this route,” said TransAsia’s Chairman Vincent Lin. “The tourism industry and the infrastructure has had time to mature and develop, coupled with the increased awareness of the destination among Taiwanese all work in our favour. We are confident we will see more people travel to Sanya.”
Flights will depart from Taipei every Monday and Thursday at 1530, arriving in Sanya at 1800. The return services depart Sanya the same day at 1900, landing back at Taoyuan at 2130.
With the addition of this new route, TransAsia now flies from Taiepei Taoyuan to five destinations in China; Shanghai, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changsha and Sanya.
