The Malaysian government has planning to set a time frame for airlines to remove their aircraft following an accident. State news agency, Bernama reported the country’s Deputy Transport Minister, Abdul Rahim Bakri as saying that if an airline didn’t meet the required removal time, the airport should move the aircraft and charge the carrier. The move is believed to be in response to the incident involving an AirAsia plane which skidded off the runway at Kuching in January, forcing the airport to close for 23 hours.
