Leger Holidays has seen bookings for festive breaks increase 25% this winter year-on-year.
The tour operator has seen a 17% rise in passengers looking to travel over the period late November to New Years, while the 25% covers Christmas, New Year and the time in between.
“We’ve noticed a real trend in the last few weeks to book both short and long breaks for the end of the year – in particular our tours visiting the Christmas Markets in many of the major European cities and trips away across the Christmas and New Year period,” said Huw Williams, managing director of Leger on the news.
“It seems like people have booked a summer holiday and then perhaps decided it would be nice to have another getaway later in the year to look forward to – which could be an indication that discretionary spending is increasing slightly,” he added.
