VisitBritain is to use the new James Bond film to promote the destination in the next part of its ‘GREAT’ campaign.
The tourism agency is using the new ‘Skyfall’ film to encourage foreign visitors to follow in the spy’s footsteps and visit the UK.
Several scenes in the new film, the franchise’s 23rd, were filmed in London and the Scottish Highlands and 2012 also marks the 50th anniversary of 007.
“007 has orchestrated many critical missions for Queen and country – including escorting Her Majesty to the fantastic Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Games – so it is only right that we call upon his services now to encourage more people to holiday in Britain,” said Sandie Dawe, chief executive of VisitBritain. “That is a worthy challenge and one that we feel is well on track following an outstanding 2012 that has thrust Britain into the limelight like never before.”
