Two Peruvian rail companies have merged to create the country’s second largest private rail company.
Inca Rail and Andean Railways will now jointly operate train services between the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu with a focus on service, sustainability and authenticity.
“This is still work in progress, but we are already benefiting from many operational synergies and we are providing our passengers with improved services and facilities. This is a partnership of like-minded organisations,” said Juan Alberto Forsyth, CEO at Inca Rail.
The companies aim to operate 12 daily services on the route and carry 200,000 passengers this year, up to 250,000 in 2013 and 500,000 by 2015.
Services include four different class carriages.
