Carnival Corporation is bringing back Bob Dickinson as a special consultant to chief operating officer Howard Frank.
Dickinson was president and CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines until 2007 when he officially retired. He joined the company in 1972 and became a director in 1987.
As well as Howard Frank, Dickinson will be acting as a consultant for the North American chief executives of all Carnival Corps brands.
Seatrade Insider quoted Frank as saying that Dickinson has “a lot of value to us from the standpoint of understanding the marketplace, particularly in North America. It’s a value I didn’t want to lose, and neither did Micky [Arison].”
Dickinson will also be advising Carnival Cruise Lines’ CEO and president Gerry Cahill, EVP sales & guest services Lynn Torrent and chief marketing officer Jim Berra; Holland America Line president and CEO Stein Kruse and EVP sales, marketing and guest programs Rick Meadows, who is also Seabourn president; and Princess Cruises president and CEO Alan Buckelew and EVP sales, marketing and customer service Jan Swartz.
Carnival recently cut its earnings forecast dramatically, the latest in a series of negative stories surrounding the cruise giant.
