As part of promoting the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 (NTY 2011) in the American market, the Embassy of Nepal based in Washington D.C. has adorned public transport vehicles with NTY 2011 posters.A total of 30 public transport vehicles in Washington D. C. have been adorned with NTY 2011 posters to promote Nepal, said Nepal’s Ambassador to the United States of America (USA) Dr Shankar Sharma.Dr Sharma has the initiative to promote Nepal as a summer tourist destination among the American travellers.In June 2011, the number of American tourists who came to Nepal by air increased by about 24% as compared to the same month last year.Around 15 million tourists visit Washington every year to see Washington Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, the White House and Museums. “Considering the flow of tourists to Washington, the Nepalese Embassy in Washington D. C. has taken the initiative to attract tourists,” he said.
