Dubai is going to build a theme park based on the Quran, according to the general projects department of the Dubai Municipality.
Holy Quran Park will be a US $7.4m public park project which is expected to open in September 2014.
Located in the Al Khawaneej area, the 60 hectare site has been designed with an Islamic perspective to convey the miracles written in the Quran.
Other features will include 54 varieties of plants mentioned in the Quran, alongside an Islamic garden, children’s play areas, an Umrah corner, outdoor theatre, fountains, a desert garden, palm oasis and running and cycling tracks.
Primary work is already finished and the second stage of construction is expected to begin this month.
