A St Lucia hotel that previously left debt to UK tour operators and travel agents have regained trust through new management.
The Landings St Lucia is now being represented by 23 tour operators in the UK after new general manager Lyle Pauls and UK & Europe marketing representative Adam Gobat settled previous animosity and built new relationships with the trade.
Recent companies to sign up are Carrier and Lusso Travel, with the management team also including new F&B manager Xavier Masson and revenues manager Robert Gregg.
Under its previous owners RockResorts the hotel had left commission and payments unpaid to the UK trade, but was taken over by Pauls in April 2012 and has since seen a turnaround.
This year’s performance has already surpassed 2012 with profits up 200% from the UK market and 90% occupancy through August, which is typically a low season for the Caribbean.
Aside from its trade partnerships the hotel has also introduced a new events programme, renovated some areas and boosted the morale of staff through a rewards programme.
The Landings has 140 villas, 74 of which are currently available for holiday rentals. Its new owners will cap this to 95-100.
