The National Digital Certification Centre is taking part in this year’s Salalah Tourism Festival 2014, making its first public appearance in the Dhofar region. This is according to the Information Technology Authority (ITA), which owns the Centre.
The Centre is promoting its Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) by explaining the essence of this technology, its benefits, security aspects and future rewards. Citizens, residents and business owners may now get their PKI-enabled ID cards from the Director-General of Civil Status at Royal Oman Police. Another option is to get PKI-enabled SIM cards from the Sultanate’s mobile operators (Omantel and Nawras).
The next step would be activating the registry at the e.oman kiosks at various locations such as shopping malls and designated public places. Once activated, users can enjoy some of the available eGovernment services giving the possibility to sign documents and prove identity electronically from anywhere and at any time.
