Starwood is bringing its contemporary W Hotels brand to Phuket.
The company has revealed plans for the W Retreat Phuket Phang Nga Bay, which will become Thailand’s third W when it opens in January 2018, following existing properties in Bangkok and Koh Samui.
Located on the island of Koh Yao Noi, in Phang Nga Bay, the W Retreat will feature 79 standalone villas, the smallest of which will cover 155m². All villas will feature private outdoor areas and plunge pools, as well as views over Phang Nga Bay.
Facilities at the resort will include two restaurants, a bar, lobby lounge, swimming pool, fitness centre, a spa with six treatment rooms and 120m² of meeting space.
Guests will arrive on the island either by boat or helicopter.
“We are very excited to bring the iconic W brand to Phang Nga Bay in southern Thailand as we continue to grow our resorts portfolio in the country,” said Stephen Ho, Starwood’s president for Asia Pacific.
“As proven by the success of W Bangkok and W Retreat Koh Samui, W Retreat Phuket Phang Nga Bay will further leverage Thailand’s exemplary service in hospitality with the W brand’s cutting-edge design and whatever/whenever philosophy to provide a new style of modern luxury in the local hotel scene.”
With W Retreat Phuket Phang Nga Bay in the pipeline, Starwood expands its presence in Thailand 23 properties under eight of its nine brands. And this October 2014, Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa will be added to the company’s nationwide portfolio.
In Phuket, Starwood currently operates three properties: Le Méridien Phuket Beach Resort, Westin Siray Bay Resort & Spa and The Naka Island, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa.
