Hilton has announced plans to expand its presence in Phuket, with the launch of a new hotel in the island’s main resort destination, Patong.
Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2018, the Hilton Phuket Patong Resort will be located on a hillside plot along the main coastal road leading to Patong town centre, 21km from the airport.
It will feature 300 rooms, all with views of the Patong coastline, plus five F&B outlets and a standalone events pavilion. Other facilities include a fitness centre, spa, three outdoor swimming pools and a business centre.
“The signing of Hilton Phuket Patong Resort underscores our commitment to continue our expansion in Thailand with a firm effort to further establish our brands in existing markets,” said Andrew Clough, Hilton’s senior vice president of development for the Middle East & Asia Pacific.
“As Phuket continues to be one of South East Asia’s premier destinations with its international airport expansion plans to boost capacity from 6.5 million to 18 million passengers, the new Hilton Phuket Patong Resort will complement our existing portfolio in Phuket.”
Hilton Phuket Patong Resort will become the brand’s sixth property in Thailand when it opens in 2018, joining Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa, Hilton Hua Hin Resort & Spa, Hilton Pattaya, Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok and Millennium Hilton Bangkok. The new hotel will add to the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of 11 operating in Thailand, with one in the pipeline.
