ABTA has confirmed this year’s Travel Convention will be staged under the theme, ‘Risk and Resilience’.
The theme will run throughout the business sessions, which will address how the travel industry and travel businesses can plan for and offset risks in an increasingly complex working environment.
Ian Goldin, professor of Globalisation and Development and director of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford has been announced as the first speaker for this year’s event and is sponsored by Touchstone Underwriting Limited and Catlin Insurance.
Vice president of the World Bank (2003-2006) and prior to that, the Bank’s Director of Development Policy (2001-2003), Goldin has received recognition for his contributions to development and business leadership and has been previously nominated Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum. His presentation will offer insight into the major shifts in society and technology and identify the opportunities and strategies needed to build resilience against risk in the travel and tourism industry.
The Travel Convention will be staged from 12-14 October. It will be hosted by the Region of Peloponnese and the Greek National Tourist Office supported by Costa Navarino, the Westin Resort Costa Navarino and Aegean Airlines.
