Airline briefs: Finnair offers tickets on inaugural A350 flights, Air France signs MoU with Air Seychelles

Finnair has commenced offering tickets for its inaugural Airbus A350 XWB flights scheduled for October.
The airline, which is the European launch customer for the aircraft, will operate flights to Heathrow from Helsinki, as well as other international destinations including Shanghai, Beijing and Singapore.
Finnair has 19 A350 aircraft on order, and expects to receive the first four by the end of this year. Another seven will be delivered in 2016 and 2017, with the remaining eight to be delivered between 2018 and 2023. Finnair plans to phase out its A340 aircraft by the end of 2017, leaving the entire widebody fleet comprised only of top-of-the-range Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft.
The 297-seat configuration includes 46 seats in Business Class in a 1+2+1 layout. The Zodiac Cirrus III seats convert to fully flat beds, while a 16-inch touch-screen inflight entertainment system comes programmed with films, TV shows, music and other digital content on demand in numerous languages. Seats in Business Class also come equipped with AC and USB power outlets.
The Economy Class cabin features Zodiac Z300 slim-line seats with a 31-inch seat pitch in a 3+3+3 layout. At the front of the Economy Class cabin are 43 Economy Comfort seats, which come with four extra inches of legroom as well as noise-cancelling headphones and an amenity kit. All seats in Economy include an 11-inch touch screen inflight entertainment system and USB power outlets.

Air Seychelles and Air France have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), heralding a new era of commercial cooperation between the two carriers.
The MoU lays the groundwork for a commercial agreement that will deliver a range of benefits to both airlines and their customers, including codeshare opportunities between Air France and Air Seychelles on each other’s respective air networks, reciprocal frequent flyer points earn, redemption and recognition benefits, as well as technical and cargo cooperation, subject to regulatory approvals.
In July 2014, Air Seychelles launched a twice-per-week service between Seychelles and France via Abu Dhabi.

Air France has unveiled its first African destinations served by its new Best & Beyond cabins. Customers can now enjoy flights to Douala in Cameroon and Malabo in Equatorial Guinea in the new Air France cabins, on board a Boeing 777-200. The new cabins offer 40 Business seats, 24 Premium Economy seats and 216 Economy seats, with flights departing up to seven times a week throughout the 2015 summer season. The new cabin design marks the latest renewed travel experience; with Air France investing over €500 million in upgrading its products and services across the network as part of its Best & Beyond project.
Launching on 14 May 2015, Yaoundé, Cameroon, will be the next destination in Africa to benefit from the new cabin design, with the new cabins set to feature in 21 aircraft serving 18 long-haul destinations by the end of the 2015 summer season.
