Korean Air profits surge in Q1

Korean Air has reported its results for the first quarter of 2011, with net profits surging 49.5% to KRW282.1 billion (US$264.1 million) year-on-year. The result was achieved off the back of a 7.2% rise in revenues, which totalled KRW2.82 trillion in the January-March quarter. The airline’s fuel costs however, jumped to KRW995 billion, accounting for almost 39% of the carrier’s total expenses.
