Amadeus has announced its second major acquisition this month, with the purchase of Itesso BV, a provider of cloud-based property management systems (PMS) for the hotel industry.
The company sealed an US$830 million deal for Navitaire, Accenture’s airline technology subsidiary, in early July. And it has now moved to expand its capabilities in the hotel sector with the deal for Netherlands-based Itesso, which provides PMS technology to 1,800 properties worldwide.
Amadeus said the move was aimed at bringing together a range of hotel systems, including PMS, Central Reservation Systems (CRS), Revenue Management Systems (RMS) and others, into a central cloud-based platform.
“This will enable the simplicity of a tightly integrated solution which shares data from all primary hotel applications to give a single view of the guest, and full visibility and control of the business across brands, groups and properties,” the company explained.
The Itesso deal also follows Amadeus’ acquisition of Newmarket, the US-based groups and events specialist, in 2013, and the company is also working with IHG to develop a new Guest Reservation System (GRS).
“Property management technology is a critical component of our strategy and we assessed numerous options to extend our capabilities in this area,” said Paco Perez-Lozao, Amadeus’ senior vice president of new businesses. “It was critical that we found a company with the right expertise that was focused on customer success and shared our vision. We believe we have a great cultural fit with Itesso.
“Their technology stands out, and as a cloud-native PMS can be tightly integrated with our overall offering,” he added.
As a result of the transaction, all of Itesso’s approximately 100 employees and management are expected to move to Amadeus.
