Meliá Hotels International has signed a management agreement for its second property on the Indonesian island of Bintan.
The new Melia Bintan will cover eight hectares of coastal land, overlooking the Malacca Strait. Once open it will feature 280 rooms and villas, a spa, fitness centre, two beachfront restaurants, a swimming pool with water attractions, and large convention centre.
The new property becomes the 15th Melia hotel either operating or in the pipeline in Indonesia. It also becomes the company’s second signed resort in Bintan following the Gran Melia Bintan.
“This new project is an exciting addition to our resort portfolio in Indonesia, where we’ve had over 30 years of experience,” said Bernardo Cabot, the Spanish hotel group’s senior vice president of Asia Pacific. “Our momentum continues to be fueled by strong demand for our exceptional guest accommodations and service. Meliá Bintan will provide discerning travellers a gateway to the one of the world’s newest meccas for luxury travel.”
The largest island in Indonesia’s Riau archipelago, Bintan is a short ferry ride away from Singapore.
