Macau is aiming to diversify its tourist offerings with the launch of a new campaign to promote the historic Taipa area of the city.
The new ‘Taipa Village – Authentic Macau’ tourism brand has been unveiled by Taipa Village Destination Limited, which has the goal of promoting Taipa as Macau’s “premier lifestyle district”.
Taipa is located close to the fast-expanding Cotai area of Macau, which houses many of the city’s huge new casino resorts.
“Taipa Village strives to be a new landmark in Macau by offering a perfect alternative to the city’s casino resorts,” said Pamela Chan, senior marketing manager at Taipa Village Destination. “As a destination brand, it represents our vision to grow the awareness of Taipa Village while preserving and protecting the unique heritage of the area.”
Originally a fishing village on the south of Taipa Island, Taipa Village features a mix of Portuguese and Chinese architecture, with colonial villas, cobbled streets, churches and temples. As such, it is being marketed as an “east-meets-west” destination, focusing on heritage, F&B, niche retail outlets, and its arts and entertainment scene.
A new website, taipavillagemacau.com has now been launched to drive the promotion of the area.
