Starwood Hotels & Resorts has launched its upscale Westin brand in Jakarta, with the opening of the Indonesian capital’s highest hotel.
The Westin Jakarta occupies floors 50 to 69 of the Gama Tower – a 310-metre-high skyscraper in the Kuningan area of South Jakarta. The hotel features a total of 272 rooms and suites, all of which offer impressive views of the city.
“We are thrilled to debut the Westin brand to Indonesia’s capital,” said Vincent Ong, Starwood’s senior director of brand management for Asia Pacific. “We are confident the opening of the hotel will resonate strongly with the local Jakarta community and guests visiting from around the world.”
There are several F&B options at the new hotel, including a main restaurant with seven live cooking stations, and a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant, Henshin, which is perched on the top three floors of the building. There is also an outdoor rooftop bar, and in line with the Westin brand’s focus on wellness, the hotel offers a ‘SuperFoods’ menu.
Other healthy facilities at the hotel include a spa and fitness studio, and Westin’s ‘Gear Lending’ programme allows guests to borrow New Balance training shoes and equipment.
And for the MICE market, the Westin Jakarta features 3,000m² of function space, including the 1,500-pax Java Ballroom and a rooftop function space for 200 people with 360-degree views of the city.
Following the opening of the Westin Jakarta and Four Points Jakarta Thamrin, which also launched this month, Starwood now operates seven hotels in Jakarta under six of its brands. And this citywide portfolio will expand even further in the coming years, with plans for at least four new Jakarta hotels including the city’s first Aloft and St Regis properties.
Starwood now operates 23 hotels across Indonesia with a further 12 in the pipeline.
