Branson vows cheap Sydney-LA flights

Richard Branson has vowed to take Qantas on with bargain A$400 (US$364) airfares between Sydney and Los Angeles on his new V Australia.
“Our philosophy is never to leave with an empty seat,” Branson said at V Australia’s US launch party in Hollywood, Sydney Morning Herald reported.
“If we have to sell a fare for $A400, we’ll sell it for $A400.”
According go the report, he was quoted saying that the United and Qantas duopoly on the Australia-US route was about to be broken.
V Australia’s first flight is scheduled to take off on December 15.
Branson said standard return fares on V Australia from Sydney to Los Angeles will be $A1,899, cutting Qantas’ standard rate by at least 16 per cent.
