Tourism body slams Air Fiji
Fiji’s Levuka Tourism Association’s has described Air Fiji as a “hindrance to local tourism”, the Fiji Times has reported. The attack follows the carrier’s decision to cancels flights from Suva to Levuka on three recent occasions.
“One of the aims of the Levuka Tourism Association is to foster the development of tourism in Levuka and Lomaiviti. It becomes very frustrating when Air Fiji, a supposed stakeholder in the tourism industry, cancels or delays flights without any consideration for the travel plans of its customers,” the Association’s Press Officer, John Milesi, said.
In recent weeks resorts have been forced to pay thousands of dollars chartering flights for their guests after Air Fiji cancel services. Repeated attempts to discuss the matter with the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Sialeni Vuataki, have reportedly proved unsuccessful.
