Travelport has signed a new, multi-year agreement with Travel Solutions (previously Galileo Pakistan) to distribute the Worldspan GDS to travel agencies in Pakistan.
The deal builds on previous partnership between Travelport and Travel Solutions, which currently distributes the Galileo GDS in Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms in Uzbekistan. The restructure follows the expiration of the GDS provider’s previous Worldspan distribution contract in Pakistan at the end of last month.
Under the terms of the new agreement, Travel Solutions will obtain exclusive rights to distribute Worldspan technology and services in Pakistan, providing travel agencies in the country with access to all the travel content available through the reservation system as well as on-going technical infrastructure and support.
“Expanding our relationship with Travel Solutions will allow us to strengthen our presence in Pakistan and extend what is a highly-efficient distributor system in the country,” said Rabih Saab, Travelport’s President & MD for the Middle East & Africa. “They have a great track record of distributing Travelport products both in and outside of Pakistan and understand the technology and support requirements of the local travel trade.”
“We are excited to extend our footprint and unite the respective strengths of Galileo and Worldspan to offer travel agents a complete GDS offering that meets all of their travel technology needs,” said Ali Naqi Taqi, CEO of Travel Solutions. “We see great potential for Worldspan in Pakistan and look forward to building the brand over the coming years with the help of our professionalism and dedication to the trade.”
Worldspan was acquired by Travelport in 2007.
