A major new wind farm in China’s Tianjin municipality was connected to national grid yesterday, supplying power enough for 247,500 households per year. The Shajingzi Wind Farm will offer 49.5 megawatts of generating capacity in its first phase, increasing to 200 megawatts by the end of 2012. The CNY1.4 billion (US$212 million) project is expected to cut Tianjin’s dust emissions by 92,400 tonnes a year, as the region moves away from coal consumption.
