Aer Lingus is to slash up to 1,500 jobs as part of a EUR74 million (US$101 million) cost-cutting programme, the BBC has reported. The airline’s cabin crew base at Heathrow is to be closed, as will the airline’s facility at Shannon airport in the Republic of Ireland. Union bosses have called the cuts a “fire sale”.
