A court in France has filed preliminary manslaughter charges against Airbus over the crash of an Air France jet off the coast of Brazil in 2009. The BBC reported that while the cause of the crash is not yet known, the charges pave the way for further investigation. The Airbus A330, en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in June 2009. Investigators have so far failed to locate the plane’s flight recorders, but it is thought that the crash was caused by faulty speed sensors, which gave false readings to pilots.
